Multicultural Association of Graduate Students (MAGS)

The Multicultural Association of Graduate Students (MAGS) is a vibrant and inclusive community dedicated to supporting the academic, social and professional needs of graduate students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

MAGS is open to all graduate students who are passionate about multiculturalism and diversity. Whether you are an international student, a student of color, or someone who values cultural diversity, you are welcome to join us.

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster relationships between UofL graduate students across academic disciplines, support students as they persist toward graduation and serve as advocates for graduate students of color.

Additionally, MAGS strives to:

  • Engage and empower underserved graduate students of color
  • Promote cultural awareness and understanding within the UofL community
  • Provide opportunities for personal and professional development

Programs and Events

MAGS hosts a variety of activities and events throughout the year to engage our members and the broader university community.

  • Cultural Celebrations: Celebrate cultural heritage through festivals, food, music, and dance.
  • Workshops and Seminars: Participate in professional development workshops, academic seminars, and skills-building sessions.
  • Social Gatherings: Enjoy social events such as movie nights, potlucks, and outings to build community and friendships. Or connect with peers, faculty, and professionals in informal and formal networking events.
  • Advocacy and Outreach: Engage in advocacy efforts to support multicultural initiatives or community service projects in the Louisville community

Lead with Us

MAGS offers numerous leadership opportunities for members who want to take an active role in shaping the organization. Join our executive board, lead a committee, or spearhead a special project to develop your leadership skills and make a meaningful impact.

Join us in celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion within our graduate community. Together, we can make a difference!
