A graduate administrative Assistantship (GAA) (sometimes referred to as a service assistantship or GSA) is assigned to a particular professor, project or office and typically assumes responsibilities according to the need of the supervisor. While in some cases these responsibilities may include research or teaching, they are often more administrative in nature and may involve demonstration of project management, event production, assessment or reporting, student services, marketing or operations within higher education.
Graduate Assistantships Now Available
The Graduate School is seeking to award the following graduate assistantships for the 2025-2026 academic year. Applications are due by April 7, 2025.
Work Requirements:
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a University of Louisville graduate program (master’s or doctoral).
- Commitment to work 20 hours per week in the position, with most of those hours in-person. Student must be available to work weekdays largely in office between 9am-4:30pm, although some remote work may be available. Schedule may be adjusted during weeks of evening or weekend programming.
- The Graduate Assistant will earn a stipend, health insurance, and full tuition. The stipend amount will be commensurate with the funding level established for the graduate program of enrollment.
Admissions
As a member of the admissions team, this role will be charged with recruiting and enrolling students in the various graduate programs. Primary emphasis of responsibilities will range from entering data into the Slate CRM system, evaluating foreign credentials, converting foreign grading scales and processing materials associated with the admission process. Communications and Marketing
This position will work in the Graduate School to assist with marketing and communications, including graphic design, content creation, as well as website and social media management.
Financial and Academic Services
As a member of the Academic and Financial Support Services team, this position's responsibilities will range from entering data into Peoplesoft, retrieving letters from Slate CRM system, and emailing letters to departments for student assistantship.
Inclusive Excellence and Student Success
This role will collaborate with the Graduate School’s Student Success Team to assist in event and project management, program assessment, and data analysis. This position will also work directly with Inclusive Excellence initiatives like Check In and Connect, The Advocate, and other efforts.
Professional Development and Student Success
This assistantship will support graduate student success, particularly the professional development program, PLAN, and other unit programming and project efforts. Tasks will include event planning, program and project management, research and benchmarking, data entry, communications and marketing, and analysis and reporting.
